Village of Hope Inc. is a non-profit, 501 c (3) organization
providing academic support services for girls in grades 6-12. It is our mission
to help girls achieve academic success, create positive self images and build
beneficial relationships among their peers. We encourage girls to pursue higher education as an option. Through encouragement and positive role-modeling
these young women will be able to self-advocate, and effectively transition
into adulthood. Girls gain opportunities to experience a stable foundation on which to build a wholesome and healthy life.
Founded in 2009, Village of Hope was created from a sincere desire to help increase the number of girls who go on to pursue post-secondary education, reduce teen pregnancy rates and positively deal with the many impacts poverty has on girls. Growing up in poverty founder, Wansheba Lawal knows what strain poverty can have on girls. She also understands how important education is in escaping poverty. She believes that having access to higher education can make all the difference in what girls will be able to do with their lives.
